10 Feb Guilty Of 1st Degree Rape After Less Than An Hour Of Deliberation

Lafourche Parish District Attorney Kristine Russell announced that a Larose man who was charged with 1^st Degree Rape in November of 2018 was found guilty by a Lafourche Parish Jury late Thursday afternoon, February 6^th.

Johnny Moore Jr., 31, raped the juvenile victim, who suffers from a mental infirmity, at a home where Moore was living prior to October 31^st, 2018.

Assistant District Attorney Jason Chatagnier, who prosecuted the case along with Assistant District Attorney Greg Stahlnecker, noted that the jury deliberated for just under an hour before returning a unanimous guilty verdict of 1^st Degree Rape. Moore, who was immediately taken into custody upon the guilty verdict, is scheduled for sentencing on March 12^th, 2020, at 1:30 p.m. before the Honorable Christopher Boudreaux.

Moore faces a mandatory life sentence without the benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.
